– Police deploy 18,426 men for poll
Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Prof. Mahmood Yakubu has assured that the choice of who become the next Osun state governor is in the hands of the people of the state.
Yakubu in his address during the stakeholders meeting in Osogbo ahead of Saturday’s governorship election said INEC has put modalities in place to ensure that the votes count.
He said “Our ultimate objective is to ensure that the Choice of who becomes the next Governor Of Osun State is entirely in the hands of the voters. Votes will count and only the choice made by the people of Osun and nothing else will determine the outcome of the election.”
Ivotesng can also report that the Nigerian police will deploy 18,426 Police personnel for the election.
Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris in his address said the police will have at least four personnel in each polling unit.
He said, “Arrangements have been concluded to deploy over 18,426 Police personnel including conventional and PMF units, intelligence and Technical teams to provide security.We will have at least four policemen/security Personnel to each PUs throughout the state”
