This was revealed at about 2:55 am on Monday by the returning officer, Professor Fatima B. Mukhtar, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Dutse, after the final collation of results.

According to the results which was declared at the state collation centre at Sultan Abubakar institute of Quranic and general studies, Sokoto, the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, is leading his closest rival, who is the candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC), with total votes cast of 489,558 and 486,145 respectively.

The difference between the results declared for both candidates is 3,413 votes which is less than the total number of cancelled votes in the state.

The INEC returning officer said: “The difference between the two major parties is just 3,413 with cancellations in 136 polling units, which is equivalent to 75,403 with total registered voters across 22 Local Government Areas of the state.
