Fifteen people have been killed while 14 sustained serious injuries in an attack on Numa Village, Andaha Town, in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, on Sunday night.
A security source who spoke to ivotesng.com on the grounds of anonymity said the people were killed by unknown armed men during a late night party.
Also, reports from some of the victims confirmed what the source said; that armed bandits raided the late night celebration, and killed and injured some of the attendees.
Speaking on the matter, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Umar Shehu Nadada said, “The suspects are unknown gunmen as they have not been arrested. The incident happened when some were celebrating at a party in the night, 15 people have been killed and 14 have been injured and are receiving medical treatment.”
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Muhammad Hussain, has come out to condemn the attack by people he described as “criminal elements.”
He also stressed that the attack was not carried out by Fulanis.
In his words: “I believe that the suspected armed men are not Fulani but criminal elements, and I call on the security agencies to investigate, arrest and prosecute them.”
