Xenophobia: Atiku Condemns Renewed Attacks On Nigerians in South Africa

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has condemned the reported xenophobic attack against Nigerians in South Africa.

The former Vice President in a statement on his verified Twitter handle described the attacks as “unacceptable.”

He insisted that urgent steps needed to be taken with the South African authorities and the African Union to put an end to it.

Atiku warned that if the ugly situation is not managed; it could affect the unity within the continent.

The statement said: “Reported attacks against Nigerians in South Africa are unacceptable and stands condemned. Urgent steps need to be taken with the SA authorities and the African Union to bring an end to this ill wind that can only end up destroying the fabric of our African brotherhood.”

The Nigerian government had earlier threatened to take “definitive action” against the menace.
