Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has reacted to the xenophobic attacks being carried out by South Africans against foreigners mostly Nigerians in their country which has led to an outrage on social media and the media.
The singer in a post on her Twitter page in the early hours of today, 4th September tweeted that she was disgusted at the situation and therefore canceling a scheduled performance at the DSTV Delicious Festival in Johannesburg on the 21st of September.
Here’s what she wrote;
“I refuse to watch the barbaric butchering of my people in SA. This is SICK. For this reason, I will NOT be performing at the upcoming DSTV delicious Festival in Johannesburg on the 21st of September.
“My prayers are with all the victims and families affected by this.”
Her decision has been lauded by her fans and followers on social media.
