First Batch Of Nigerian Returnees From South Africa Arrive Lagos

The first batch of Nigerians who willingly decided to leave South Africa following the recent xenophobic attacks has arrived the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, Nigeria.

Only a fraction of the total number expected today were successfully evacuated. About 187 Nigerians were evacuated in this batch as against the 320 that were expected back home.

The evacuation of Nigerians follows an order by President Muhammadu Buhari on September 9, 2019, to evacuate Nigerians who are willing to return home from South Africa.
