Some candidates contesting Saturday’s governor’s election election in Osun state have described the ban on use of mobile phones inside polling booths as a welcome development.
While reacting to the ban, Gbenga Akintola, the AD Candidate in the Osun elections said, “Ban of phones in polling booths give people like me a fighting chance, we welcome it.”
Meanwhile, Ivotesng reports that the INEC Chairman, prof. Mahmoud Yakubu has assured that the Commission is determined to eliminate vote buying in Osun and subsequent elections.
He said, “votes now count, hence voters are now targets by those who are determined to subvert the electoral process . Take it from INEC that only the votes cast by the people of Osun will decide the results!”
The INEC Chairman said form EC60e will be filled and pasted in the Polling unit & same information will be on form EC8a given to Party agents.Collection of PVCs extended till Wednesday 5pm.
Also, political parties have made affirmation to be of good behaviour and will sign the affirmation accord.
All 48 candidates contesting Saturday’s governor’s election took an oath for peaceful elections administered by Director voter education.
