Breaking: INEC Shifts Kogi, Bayelsa Election To 16th November

By Osagbemi Anthony

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has shifted the date earlier slated for Kogi and Bayelsa State Governorship elections from 2nd November to 16th November 2019.

The change of position was contained in a statement issued by Festus Okoye, National Commissioner and Chairman Committee on Information and Voter Education.

According to the statement, the change of date was following an appeal by the Bayelsa State government for a change of date.

Bayelsa State had sent a delegation led by its deputy governor to the commission to plead for a postponement of the election.

The delegation said November 2nd coincides with the Bayelsa State Thanksgiving day, and therefore appealed for a shift to help them observe the day.
