Shamsudeen further said the outcome of the polls was a litmus test for the Caretaker Committee which must be handled with care.
Leaders and Members various APC groups, respected media organizations here present, good afternoon all.
We are here this afternoon to express our shock and dismay over a purported attempt by the leadership of our great party to substitute the names of the candidates who emerged victorious in the recently held primary elections in both AMAC and Abaji Area Councils of the federal capital territory.
It is a known fact the present Caretaker leadership of the APC came into being because of the alleged high-handedness of the immediate past leadership and the need to heal & reconcile aggrieved individuals and groups that felt offended.
“Considering the unfolding development in view of the recently conducted Area council chairmanship elections, adjudged to be one of the most transparent & credible elections held in recent time, we make bold to say that history is about to repeat itself.
“We decided to speak out at this point in time to draw the attention of the President who is the leader of the party and other well meaning members of the party to caution the present Caretaker committee under the leadership His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni to allow the people’s choice to prevail.
“Elections were held in the presence of all the relevant stakeholders including INEC and security agencies and the results declared without any protest, whatsoever. Appeal Committee reviewed the petitions and upheld the AMAC election.
“Why is the party leadership bent on substituting the name of the duly elected candidate?.
“We do not want to sound pessimistic, but the recent defection of some aggrieved members of the party as a result of the just concluded primaries in some area councils is a strong indication that we need to put our house in order, if we truly want to earn the people’s confidence and win election.
“We as party loyalist, are worried and spend sleepless nights because of the glaring injustice the Mai Mala Buni leadership is encouraging.
“It is anti PMB policy, and contrary to the ideology of PMB led new APC leadership we were assured of.
“To avoid crisis in our great party, we are appealing to the Mai Mala Buni led Caretaker Committee to justify why they were entrusted with the responsibility of uniting the party by resisting pressure from any self serving person or group.
“Elections have been conducted and won. They should please submit the name to INEC and allow us prepare to win election the forthcoming Area Council Elections.
“AMAC election is a litmus test and we urge you not to fail the teeming membership of the APC that celebrated your appointment to reconcile aggrieved members of the party.”
